On the right is me
(James Colquhoun), who spoke on How to Train a Dog when I was in grade 3
It is now nearly 25 years
later and ironically I turned out to have a fear of public speaking and
presentations in my secondary and post secondary schools. But, what hasn’t
changed is my fascination and ability to interact with dogs so well. I have
always been an excellent canine handler however I admit I have much to
learn still.I am considering
becoming a professional Canine Behaviorist/Trainer one day soon.
I have a beautiful male
Rottweiler and he is very calm & loving, gentle & loyal,
socialand still protective. When my dog was nine months old a two
year old boy was able to walk him for about 10 minutes and my dog Embro
never pulled once on the leash. For a 9 month old energetic male rotty pup
weighing approximately 85 lbs that’s very impressive.Especially considering it was his first
walk of the day and he was very excited but he still kept slack on the
leash at all times and stayed close to the young boy.
Many people
think if they give their dog lots of love and exercise they will have a
well behaved pet. This is not always the case. We must learn that dogs
require rules, boundaries, and limitations BEFORE affection. In a dogs
habitat they don’t follow lovable leaders, and they don't follow aggressive
or spiritual leaders. Their leader is dominate! We must be proud, calm
assertive pack leaders to our canine companions.
I have been
instructing my dog Embro using simple methods I learned from a T.V. show
called --> “The Dog Whisperer”
with dog behavior specialistCesar’s Millan and his methods has proven to be very
effective!The show is very
educational and entertaining at the same time while Cesar usually proves it
is mostly humans that require the training and not the dogs.If you have a Facebook account check out
the group link below if you’re interested. If you join you can watch any episodes from Season 1 to 3 and learn
how to maintain a well balanced and obedient dog right now.
Cesar Millan is a
world-renowned dog behavior specialist and is known for his uncanny ability
to walk large packs of dogs at a time. The guy is amazing with dogs and if
you apply some of the simple techniques he teaches you will become a great
pack leader and have a well behaved dog.
Cesar teaches us that in a dogs habitat they don’t follow lovable leaders,
and they don't follow aggressive or spiritual leaders, their leader is
dominate. Cesar also teaches us that dogs require rules, boundaries, and
limitations before affection; and that we as pack leaders must always
remain calm and assertive
The very first episode that started it all! A MUST SEE!!!
